How to Have a More Positive Day: My Simple Morning Routine

After a very long and stressful period at work, I was feeling drained and exhausted. The stress of work had begun to creep into the rest of my life and had taken its toll on me. It wasn’t until one day that I realized I needed to take action or things were going to spiral out of control. And so began my journey towards ensuring I have a more positive day every day. My morning routine has been the key to unlocking some peace in my life — it’s what remains constant when everything else feels like it is falling apart around me.

What is a Morning Ritual?

A morning ritual is a simple routine that you do each morning to set yourself up for success in the day ahead. They can vary from person to person but they all have one thing in common: they are incredibly powerful at helping you become more positive, more confident, and more productive in your day. A morning ritual can vary greatly in what you choose to include but there are 3 common threads that run through every great morning ritual. First, it should be something you can complete in 10 minutes or less. If it takes hours, it’s too much to ask of yourself in the morning. You can’t be expected to be fully awake and fully focused after just waking up. Second, it should be something that is calming and helps you clear your mind. You don’t want to be caught up in your thoughts and anxieties. You want to be present and fully focused on the task at hand. Finally, it should be something that helps you set an intention for the day ahead. Your intentions are what guide the way you approach the day and how you respond to the unexpected challenges that will inevitably arise. Having a positive outlook in your day is a choice and a great morning ritual is the key to making that choice.

Why You Should Have a Morning Ritual

Having a morning ritual will help you start your day on a positive note and set the tone for the rest of your day. If you’re anything like me, you’ve found yourself in the middle of the day feeling like you’re drowning in the noise and chaos around you. You don’t know where to start and you don’t have the energy to do anything. This is often because we rarely make time for ourselves. We constantly push ourselves to the limit with no time to recharge or relax. And the worst part is that we do it to ourselves. We create this chaos for ourselves. Without a morning ritual, you’re setting yourself up for a chaotic day filled with stress and anxiety. With a morning ritual, you’re able to start your day peacefully and positively.

Every Morning Ritual Should Have These 3 Elements

  • Calm: You want to start your day in a way that is calming and helps you clear your mind. You don’t want to be caught up in your thoughts and anxieties. You want to be present and focused on the task at hand.

  • Focus: You want to start your day in a way that is focused. You don’t want to be worrying about what you have to do today or what things you have to get done. You want to be able to calmly think about what you have to do today and how you’re going to go about doing it.

  • Positive: You want to start your day positively. You don’t want to be thinking about the stresses and worries you have in your life. You want to be able to think positively and set a positive intention for the day.

How to Have a More Positive Day

Start your day with a positive intention. This can be a simple thought you write down and read before you get started in your day. It can be as simple as: "Today is going to be a positive day". End your day with a positive action. This can be as simple as writing down 3 things you want to be better at tomorrow. It can be as simple as: "Tomorrow I am going to be more positive". In the middle of your day, try to focus on what’s positive in your life. This can be as simple as thinking about the people in your life that lift you up and make you feel good. It can be as simple as thinking about the things in your life that already make you feel good.

A Morning of Confidence: 3 Things to Make You Feel Confident and Capable

There are a few things that you should do every day to help make you feel confident and capable. The more you do them, the more they will become a positive habit in your life and the more they will help make you feel confident and capable. Here are three things that I try to do every single day:

Have a positive outlook: No matter what happens in my day, I try to keep a positive outlook. I try to look for the silver lining in everything that happens and try to learn from my mistakes and from everything that happens around me.

Have a healthy self-esteem: No matter what happens in my day, I try to have a healthy self-esteem. I try to remind myself that I am worthy and capable and that I can do anything I put my mind to.

Be kind to yourself: No matter what happens in my day, I try to show myself kindness. I try to remember to be gentle with myself and not be too hard on myself when I make mistakes.

Conclusion

Having a more positive day doesn't happen by chance. It happens when you decide to make it happen. To do that, you need to understand the factors that contribute to a positive or negative outlook. This includes how you start your day and what you do with your mornings. If you take the time to create a more positive morning ritual, you'll find yourself feeling more confident and capable throughout the day. Keep these things in mind and you'll be on your way to having a more positive day.
